Parents of 3-Year-Old Filed Lawsuit at Child Dies at Day Care Center

The parents of a young girl who died suddenly at a Houston day care center in February have filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Three-year-old Rayne Stanley was left alone in a bathroom at the Kidizone Academy day care, despite the fact that she suffered from chronic asthma and had experienced a small attack hours earlier.

An official autopsy report listed the cause of death as bronchial asthma.

As Rayne’s parent explained, “You basically can’t breathe. Just think about not being able to breathe and being a three-year-old toddler trying to open up a restroom door by yourself.”

The day care’s owner said the parents never informed her of how severe the asthma condition was, and that she performed CPR and did everything she could to save Rayne’s life.

It was reported by 11 News that last year the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services cited Kidizone for employing caregivers who were not certified in first aid.

Rayne’s parents admitted that they did not do their homework. They stated, “the day care was right across the street so it was easy.”

The daycare center is being charged with neglect.

Rayne’s parents say that the pain of losing their little girl will never go away.
