Hit and Run in Brooklyn on Christmas Morning Kills Woman

January 4, 2012 – Brooklyn, N.Y. – According to a report from NBC New York, a hit and run in Brooklyn on December 25, 2011 killed a woman.  The unidentified 38-year-old woman was crossing at the intersection of Troy Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights at around 7:30 a.m., when she was struck by a silver car.  Witnesses to the pedestrian accident told police that the driver of the car continued down Eastern Parkway. The woman was transported to Kings County Hospital but was pronounced dead.  Police are continuing to investigate and to look for the driver of the fatal hit and run.  A hit and run accident can have special legal implications for a victim and his or her family.

To learn what legal options may be available, you should speak with a Brooklyn pedestrian accident attorney as soon as possible. Compensation may be available which addresses the medical bills, pain and suffering and wrongful death.  According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2010, there were 1,200 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.  To help raise awareness of traffic safety in the New York area, our firm will frequently publish blogs about traffic accidents that occur throughout the 5 boroughs and beyond. We do this to raise awareness about the common types of motor vehicle accidents that occur in New York that may result in serious injury or traffic fatalities.  Among the most common types of traffic accidents in New York are:

  • accidents caused by hazardous road conditions;
  • single-vehicle crashes;
  • rollover accidents; and
  • “distracted driver” accidents or crashes caused by intoxicated drivers.

If you have been named in this blog or if you are the victim’s family member or friend and would like the blog removed from our website, please feel free to contact us and we will promptly accommodate your request.
