More Judges in New York Trained for Medical Malpractice Cases

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, more judges in New York are going to be trained in medical malpractice cases. This is coming from a pilot program with a $3 million federal grant, designed to provide the training.  Many medical malpractice cases can take a long time to settle. Negotiations often get stalled, leading to reduced awards or victims having to wait longer than necessary to receive compensation.  With New York having a large number of medical malpractice cases, training more judges will help to expedite the process. On average, every year they see about 4,000 of these types of cases get filed, many in which involve Medicaid patients and obstetrics.  Judges in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn will receive the training, with the hopes of saving time and money. There is also an effort being made to investigate medical malpractice claims early on, therefore speeding up the process of victims receiving a settlement.  If you or a loved one has been the victim of medical negligence, compensation could be available. You should speak immediately with a New York medical malpractice lawyer, who can explain your rights and the legal options that may be available to you.
