Man Struck and Killed in a Hit and Run in the Bronx

September 13, 2011 – Bronx, New York – According to a report from My Fox New York, a man was struck and killed in a hit and run accident in the Bronx early Sunday morning, Sept. 4.   Antonio Damiano, Jr., 23, of Mt. Vernon, was walking on the Henry Hudson Parkway near West 234 Street when he was fatally injured by a vehicle. The driver left the scene of the accident and when emergency medical services arrived, Damiano was pronounced dead.  Police have not made any arrests and the investigation into the fatal hit and run is continuing.  When you have suffered serious injuries or lost a loved one as a result of a hit and run accident, you may be wondering if you have any legal recourse. Your next step should be to speak with a Bronx personal injury attorney who can evaluate your case and determine your next course of action.  According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2009, there were 1,156 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.

To help raise awareness of traffic safety in the New York area, our firm will frequently publish blogs about traffic accidents that occur throughout the 5 boroughs and beyond. We do this to raise awareness about the common types of motor vehicle accidents that occur in New York that may result in serious injury or traffic fatalities.

Among the most common types of traffic accidents in New York are:

  • accidents caused by hazardous road conditions;
  • single-vehicle crashes;
  • rollover accidents; and
  • “distracted driver” accidents or crashes caused by intoxicated drivers.

If you have been named in this blog or you are the victim’s family member or friend and would like the blog removed from our website, please feel free to contact us and we will promptly accommodate your request.
