GE Food Processors Recalled Due to Fire and Laceration Hazard

According to a report from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), General Electric (GE) food processors have been recalled due to fire hazards and laceration injuries. Walmart issued the recall after receiving 58 complaints. There were 24 reports of the food processor working despite not having a lid in place, which resulted in 21 injuries to fingertips. There were also 34 reports of the food processor smoking, which resulted in 3 fires. The defect is in the safety interlock system. It may fail, which allows the processor to work despite not having a lid safely secured. Additionally, the unit can emit smoke or end up catching on fire.  Consumers are being advised to stop using the GE food processor and return it to Walmart where they will receive a full refund.
