Bicyclist Hospitalized with Head Injury after Hit by Car in Manhattan

September 30, 2011 – Manhattan, New York – According to a report from WIBW, a bicyclist is hospitalized with a head injury after being struck by a car.  The bicycle accident occurred on Monday morning, September 19, on the 2800 block of Kimball Avenue.  Tae Wyman, 50, was traveling in the center eastbound lane when she was hit from behind by a 2001 Kia Sorrento. Wyman was thrown from her bike onto the hood of the Kia where she then fell to the ground.  She was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan but was later taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka by a medical helicopter. She suffered a head injury, with the severity unknown.  According to police, the driver of the vehicle indicated she was in the center lane and couldn’t see her due to the fog and it still being dark outside.  If you were seriously injured in a bicycle accident, you should consult with a Manhattan personal injury attorney about your legal rights.  According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2009, there were 1,156 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.
