Parents Beware: 10 Million Fisher-Price Children’s Items Recalled

Fisher-Price, one of the leading producers of children’s toys and products, has issued a massive recall that affects several of its product lines. The complaints are that many of the items have been found to produce a choking hazard or present other safety issues, causing serious child injury.  In a press release from Fisher-Price, the company notes that in collaboration with the Consumer Products Safety Commission and other regulatory organizations they initiated the recall to prevent further incidents. The company is offering a replacement part or repair kit for most recalled items, and the full list of recalled children’s products can be found on their website.

The 4 product lines that were included in the children’s product recall include the:

  • Trike line of tricycles;
  • Rampway play sets;
  • several high chairs, and
  • certain play sets with inflatable balls.

Many of the tricycle models have protruding plastic ignition keys which can cause serious injury if a child falls against them. The inflatable balls in the play sets have valves which can cause choking hazards, as do the wheels on the Rampway cars. Children can fall against pegs on the backs of the recalled high chairs and suffer serious child injury.  Product defects are often wrongfully overlooked as cases of misuse or negligence of the user when injuries occur. Especially with children’s toys, many personal injury claims that cite defective products as the cause of injury are often defended against by saying the parent or child was at fault for improper use of a product.  When your child suffers injury by an item that has a known defect, such as the defective products listed in the Fisher-Price recall, you may be able to file a defective product lawsuit to claim damages. Companies have a duty to their customers to manufacture defect-free, safe products and when they are negligent in this duty many innocent users may be injured. If your child was injured by any of the recalled Fisher-Price products, or any other defective product, you may need to file a defective product claim. When seeking compensation for your child’s injuries from a defective product, you will be fighting against manufacturers and large companies.
