High School Student Struck by Car on Long Island

October 27, 2011 – Long Island, N.Y. – According to a news story from Eyewitness News WABC-TV New York, a high school student was struck by a car on Monday, October 24.  The unidentified student was on the way to school when the pedestrian accident happened. While attempting to cross Montauk Highway at Barberry Road, the teen was struck. The driver of that vehicle did remain at the scene of the accident.  The high school student was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and was listed in serious condition.  So far no charges have been filed against the driver.  When you or someone you love has become the victim of a pedestrian accident, you may be wondering what your legal rights are. A New York personal injury attorney can take the time to adequately evaluate your case and decide if you have a legitimate claim worth pursuing.  According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2009, there were 1,156 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.
