FDA Warns: Do Not Use Pain Reliever for Teething

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned Thursday against using a lidocaine solution as a pain reliever on teething babies’ gums, saying it could cause deaths and serious injuries in infants and toddlers.

The agency will require a boxed warning on the label for prescription oral viscous lidocaine 2 percent solution to highlight that it should not be used for teething pain, the FDA said in a statement.

If you or a loved one suffered as a result of adverse side effects from a medication, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information, contact one of our Gacovino Lake attorneys at 1-800-246-HURT (4878).
