Bicyclist Fatally Struck by 3 Cars on Long Island

November 29, 2011 – Long Island, N.Y. – In a report from NBC New York, a bicyclist was fatally injured after being struck by 3 different cars.  The fatal bike accident took place on Monday, Nov. 28. Marvin Alfaro-Morales, of Farmingdale, was trying to cross Del Drive (Route 110) when he was first struck by a car heading south. According to police, Morales was then struck again by 2 other vehicles. He died at the scene of the accident.  All of the drivers stayed at the accident scene and police continue to investigate.  If you or a loved one were seriously or fatally injured in an accident, you could be entitled to compensation. Damages may be available that address medical expenses, lost wages, wrongful death benefits, pain and suffering and other losses. To learn what your rights are, you should speak to a New York accident attorney as soon as possible. According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2009, there were 1,156 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.

To help raise awareness of traffic safety in the New York area, our firm will frequently publish blogs about traffic accidents that occur throughout the 5 boroughs and beyond. We do this to raise awareness about the common types of motor vehicle accidents that occur in New York that may result in serious injury or traffic fatalities.

Among the most common types of traffic accidents in New York are:

  • accidents caused by hazardous road conditions;
  • single-vehicle crashes;
  • rollover accidents; and
  • “distracted driver” accidents or crashes caused by intoxicated drivers.

If you have been named in this blog or if you are the victim’s family member or friend and would like the blog removed from our website, please feel free to contact us and we will promptly accommodate your request.
