24-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Long Island Hit and Run

August 10, 2011 – Long Island, New York – According to a report from Eyewitness News WABC-TV New York, NY, a 24-year-old woman was the victim of a fatal hit and run that occurred on Long Island.  Police are still looking for the hit and run driver who struck Erika Hughes on Friday, July 29, around midnight. She was crossing Mastic Road, just south of Riverside, when, what witnesses describe as a dark-colored truck, hit her and continued southbound on Mastic Road, eventually turning east.  Witnesses indicate that it could have been a utility vehicle, tow truck, or pickup truck. They also said it’s possible that it has front end damage.  An accident of any type can be devastating but a hit and run can be especially traumatic.
