2 Young Sisters Were Injured in a Pedestrian Accident in Smithtown

May 25, 2011 – Smithtown, N.Y. – According to a report from Eyewitness News, a pair of siblings were injured by a car in a pedestrian accident in Smithtown.  The 2 sisters, ages 13 and 9, were hit by a car on Thursday, May 5 at approximately 5:30 p.m. The pedestrian accident happened while they were crossing an intersection of East Main Street and Lawrence Avenue.   The 13-year-old girl was taken by paramedics to Stony Brook University Medical Center while her 9-year-old sister was airlifted there. At this time the siblings’ conditions are not known.  The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene of the pedestrian accident until authorities arrived. The driver is not expected to be charged, however the accident is still under investigation.   According to a story from SmithtownRadio.com, at least four other pedestrians have been involved in pedestrian accidents in that same intersection in the last two years, including two that died.  A pedestrian accident can lead to life-threatening or fatal consequences.
