Table-Top Clip-On Chairs Recalled Due to Amputation and Fall Hazards

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a recall has been issued on Table-Top Clip-On Chairs, due to an amputation and fall hazard. Previously the subject of a product safety alert on May 6, 2011, urging parents to stop using this product due to the risk of injuries, it is now being recalled.  Imported by phil&teds USA Inc., of Fort Collins, Colorado, worn or missing clamp pads could result in the chairs detaching from a table surface. This poses the risk of a child falling. Additionally, if the chair detaches, there is the risk of a child’s finger getting caught between the bar and clamping mechanism. This poses the risk of amputation. It was also found that the instructions included with the product are inadequate, which could lead to it being improperly used by the consumer.  There have been 19 reports of children falling, with 5 resulting in injuries. There have been 2 reports of children getting their fingers lacerated, crushed, pinched, or amputated. There are also 3 reports of bruising injuries when the chair detached and the children struck either the table or floor.  If you have been injured by a defective product, then you should immediately speak with a New York defective product attorney.
