Toxic Waste Bubble Gum Recalled Because of Lead Levels

April 1, 2011 – A single lot of Candy Dynamics’ Toxic Waste Short Circuits Bubble Gum has been recalled after the FDA found levels of lead that exceeded approved amounts.  The March 26th recall announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prompts consumers to check the lot number located on the left side of the bag of any Toxic Waste Short Circuits products purchased between January 4 and March 18, 2011. The lot number in question is #15070SC12 and was the only lot affected.  FDA standards will tolerate 0.1 ppm of lead in consumer products before they are subjected to recall. The contaminated lot contained 0.189 ppm; however, no lead-related illnesses have been reported. The candy was sold at retailers nationwide, as well as in Canada and Switzerland and was available through some mail order retailers.  Consumers who purchased a bag of Toxic Waste Short Circuits Bubble Gum can contact Candy Dynamics at 317-228-5012 to speak with Eileen O’Neal about their concerns and disposal information. Direct customers have been issued recall notices to pull any contaminated products from their inventory.  Elevated lead levels in consumer products can cause serious health issues if exposure is severe or long-term. Lead poisoning can result in brain damage, kidney failure, nervous system disorders, and many other conditions. Infants and children are especially vulnerable to high levels of lead, especially in paint and food.  If you or a loved one has suffered illness from exposure to lead-contaminated products you may need to file a dangerous product claim. An experienced dangerous product attorney can help you determine liability in your claim and help you obtain a proper settlement for your losses.
