Motorcyclist’s Fatal Injuries Could Have Been Caused by Rescue Effort

September 13, 2011 – New York City, New York – In a report from the Huffington Post, a motorcyclist’s fatal injuries could have been caused by rescue efforts, a charge that first responders deny.  The tragic accident occurred when Karam Rampersaud, 21, was out riding his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on Thursday morning, Sept. 1, and a Ford Taurus made a turn in front of him. Rampersaud collided with the vehicle and was then stuck underneath it. He was dragged about 30 feet before the unidentified 70-year-old driver finally stopped  First responders had to use a hydraulic jack to retrieve him. The car was about 4 feet high when it slipped off of the hydraulic jack and fell onto Rampersaud. A cell phone video, which captured the tragic accident, doesn’t clearly indicate if the car crushed Rampersaud.  He was taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing.  If you were injured in a motorcycle accident that was caused by someone else’s negligence, then you may be entitled to pursue a claim. You should consult with a New York personal injury attorney about your case.  According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2009, there were 1,156 fatalities as a result of traffic accidents in the state of New York.
