Prempro Drug Information
Generically known as premarin, Prempro is an oral medication comprised of conjugated estrogen and medroxyprogesterone (also known as progesterone), the hormone that regulates ovulation and menstruation. Only available via prescription, Prempro is typically indicated for the treatment of menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, bone loss and vaginal dryness/irritation.
Prempro is marketed by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since March 2003. Premarin has been used for medicinal purposes since 1942.
