Vioxx® Recall

Vioxx®, a popular arthritis drug, was voluntarily recalled by Merck & Co. Inc. on September 30th 2004 after studies found that it increased the risk of heart attack and stroke. In fact, one of the FDA's own drug experts claims that the agency silenced his concerns about the drug weeks before Merck withdrew the drug from the market.
